Knut Neven

Canadian NM Knut Neven - who earns his living as a software developer - was the editor of Canada's national chess magazine "En Passant" for six years between 1998 and 2003. He has previously authored several comprehensive ChessBase Training DVDs on the French Defense, the Gruenfeld Indian, and the Classical Nimzo Indian. Neven has earned the EM title (email master) and qualified for three World Championship finals at IECG, the well-known international eMail correspondence chess organization. In over-the-board chess, he has maintained a Canadian Elo rating over 2300 for many years, and he has placed in the top ten at several national championships over the last two decades. His best result to date came at the 1997 Canadian Open in Winnipeg, where he posted a near-IM norm with a FIDE performance rating over 2400, and a share of 7th place overall in a field of more than 200 players that included more than two dozen GMs and IMs...
