Najdorf

Es ist erstaunlich, dass das heute wichtigste System im Sizilianer mit dem unscheinbaren Zug 5...a6 beginnt. Der Zug des Randbauern leistet nichts für die Figurenentwicklung, weshalb macht Schwarz ihn dann? Nun, es ist fast immer nützlich, dass den weißen Leichtfiguren das Feld b5 verwehrt wird, und außerdem wird ein Gegenangriff am Damenflügel mit b7-b5 vorbereitet. Dann droht unter Umständen ...b4 mit Vertreibung des Sc3, was den Bauern e4 unter Druck setzt. So gesehen ist 5...a6 bereits eine Vorbereitung des Angriffs auf das weiße Zentrum! Der große Aufstieg der Najdorf- Variante – benannt nach dem polnischargentinischen Großmeister Miguel Najdorf (1910–1997) – begann in den 1950er Jahren. Die Weltmeister Petrosian, Tal und Fischer spielten diese Eröffnung, und auch Kasparov war wegen seiner exakten Behandlung der scharfen Najdorf-Abspiele gefürchtet.
