DVD 2: William Davies Evans fue un capitán de barco galés que aportó el gambito Evans, que deparó cientos y miles de brillantes victorias a su nombre. en el volumen 2 de su guía de gambitos, el gran maestro holandés Erwin l'Ami vuelve a los días del ajedrez romántico en los que se sacrificaban peones de forma rutinaria en gran cantidad. en el primer volumen vimos muchos peligrosos gambitos que pueden jugar las blancas tras 1.e4 e5. En el segundo vemos gambitos emprendedores como el Marshall, el Escocés, el Jänisch y el ya mencionado gambito Evans. Muchas de esas variantes largo tiempo olvidadas dejan mucho espacio a la creatividad y la exploración y este DVD está lleno de nuevas ideas con las que sorprender a sus rivales. Aperturas abiertas

Tras 1.e4 e5 tenemos las llamadas aperturas abiertas. Este orden de jugadas era casi obligatorio antiguamente y por ello alguna de las más famosas partidas en la historia del ajedrez comienzan así, como la Inmortal o la Siempreviva. En la actualidad, los principiantes aprenden en primer lugar las aperturas abiertas, donde nos encontramos con el famoso mate pastor (2.Dh5 Cc6 3.Ac4 Cf6 4.Dxf7 mate). Por otro lado, 1...e5 está considerado como la respuesta más sólida y por ello es la predominante en el ajedrez de alto nivel.
