Die Sizilianische Verteidigung gilt als der Ferrari unter den Schacheröffnungen. Mit ...c5 wird bereits im ersten Zug eine Asymmetrie erzeugt und Weiß das Feld am Königsflügel überlassen. Schwarz versucht von Beginn an, das Spiel zu verkomplizieren und die Initiative an sich zu reißen. Dieses riskante Vorgehen birgt natürlich zahlreichen Fallstricke.

Während auf absolutem Spitzenniveau Najdorf und Sveshnikov-Sizilianisch diskutiert werden - und sich hierzu entsprechende Berge an Theorie entwickelt haben - fährt das Paulsen-System im Windschatten ihrer großen Brüder mit. Mit der Zugfolge ...e6 und ...a6 wird die Option offengelassen, ….d5 in einem Zug zu spielen, zudem ist der Ausfall ...Lb4 eine Option. Konkretes Wissen um die einzelnen Abspiele ist im Paulsen-System weniger entscheidend als die Kenntnis der taktischen und positionellen Motive. Diese DVD bietet ein komplettes, aggressives und kompromissloses Repertoire gegen 1.e4, das auch für Hobby- und Vereinsspieler leicht zu erlernen ist und besonders die Liebhaber taktischer Verwicklungen ansprechen dürfte.
