The 648 selected annotated games offer excellent material for study. Top players such as Anand (9), Andreikin (1), Bologan (4), Caruana (2), Edouard (2), Firouzja (1), Gelfand (9), Giri (3), Karjakin (1), Kasimdzhanov (1), Nakamura (1), So (1), Svidler (2), Vidit (1) have analysed their games and in addition there are the comments of Petroff experts like Gelfand’s second Huzman (320), Marin (33), Kritz (28) and other high level authors. As a total there are 4821 games in which the ratings average is at least 2520 (apart from games with annotations by Petroff experts such as Anand (for both sides), Yu Yangyi, Jussupow, Gelfand and Fridman).
A double click on the database loads the games list. A further double click loads the relevant game. Via the tab Players it is possible to sort the games according to frequency (with the tab Total). There Artur Jussupow is at the top of the list with 145 games. It is also worth studying the games of Yu Yangyi, Boris Gelfand and Daniel Fridman, who have played almost all of their 87 or 135 or 127 games with the black pieces. Of further interest is a click on Title; (for that an up-to-date player encyclopaedia needs to be installed) when one sees that many of the world champions had the Petroff in their repertoire or indeed still have it (especially Kramnik and Karpov).
The games can be played through or further investigated with an engine or a Powerbook.
