Elisabeth Pähtz
Elisabeth Pähtz, born in Erfurt in 1985,
is Germany’s most successful female chess player and the first German woman to earn the full grandmaster title.
She has represented the German women’s national team since making her debut in 1998.
Pähtz became a Woman Grandmaster in 2001, an International Master in 2004 and a Grandmaster in 2022.
She won the Girls’ Under-18 World Championship in 2002 and the World Junior Girls’ Championship in 2005.
Further highlights of her career include bronze at the 2017 World Rapid Championship,
the European Women’s Rapid Championship title and silver at the 2018 European Women’s Blitz Championship,
as well as bronze at the 2019 European Women’s Championship.
At the 2024 Chess Olympiad, she also won an individual silver medal on board two.
