Boris Avrukh

born in 1978 in Karaganda, Kazakhstan, is a graduate of the Soviet chess school and in 1990 he became world champion in the U12s. Later Avrukh emigrated to Israel, where, for example, he was twice crowned Israeli champion. The grandmaster has taken part in six chess Olympiads and was a member of the Israeli team which won the silver medal in 2008 in Dresden. Avrukh, who had started annotating games for ChessBase as far back as 1995, published in 2008 the 1st volume of his "Grandmaster Repertoire - 1.d4" with Quality Chess, the second volume followed in 2010. Many chess players turned these books into their bible by taking Avrukh's suggestions up in their repertoire. Avrukh has worked as an author and trainer (e.g. with Radjabov, Kramnik, Caruana). Since 2011 he has also been responsible for the training of the Israeli national team.
