Charlie Storey

Charlie Storey, born in 1971,
is an English FIDE Master, chess coach, teacher and ChessBase author.
He learned chess at around the age of ten and later focused primarily on his career as a professional coach.
Storey earned the FIDE Master title in 2009 and has also achieved two International Master norms.
For many years, he worked with England’s national junior squads,
including as an academy coach and coach of the Under-18 and Under-16 teams.
Storey is also a qualified teacher of business studies and information technology.
He is best known as the creator of the universal opening system The Sniper,
in which Black responds to a variety of White set-ups with an early …g6, …Bg7 and …c5.
For ChessBase, he produced the training course The Sniper in 2017,
followed by the corresponding repertoire for White, The White Sniper, in 2020.
In 2025, he released The Black Sniper: A Hypermodern Weapon for Attackers!,
a thoroughly updated version of his repertoire for Black.
