Tim Wall

Tim Wall, born in 1966,
is an English FIDE Master, FIDE Trainer, chess journalist and organiser from Newcastle upon Tyne.
After spending around 20 years working as a journalist and editor in Russia and Azerbaijan,
he returned to his native north-east England in 2016 and increasingly focused on chess coaching and tournament organisation.
For many years, Wall coached junior players at Forest Hall Chess Club;
today, he serves as coach and secretary at Newcastle Chess Club.
Since 2025, he has overseen the development of young English players as the English Chess Federation’s Director of Junior Chess.
Wall also organised the Northumbria Masters, an international tournament series at which numerous title norms were achieved.
