Mihail Marin, nacido en 1965, fue varias veces Campeón de Rumanía y en 2001 logró superar la barrera de los 2600 puntos Elo. Marin ha escrito varios libros muy populares, entre ellos “Secrets of Chess Defence“ y “Learn from the legends“.
