Nous nous concentrerons sur la façon de créer un avant-poste pour un ♘ et sur la façon de manœuvrer avec cette pièce pour en tirer le maximum d'activité. Nous parlerons de ses âmes sœurs: la ♕ et le ♙ passé. Nous nous concentrerons également sur les positions où les ♘♞ sont vulnérables ou désespérément passifs: typiquement lorsqu'ils sont derrière les chaînes de ♙♟.
