Robert Ris
Robert Ris, born in Amstelveen in 1988,
is a Dutch International Master, FIDE Trainer and author.
He learned chess from his father at the age of seven
and later became one of the strongest Dutch players of his generation,
competing in three European Youth Championships.
Ris earned the International Master title in 2007
and reached his peak rating of 2464 in April 2020.
He has worked as a chess coach since the age of 15,
initially teaching in schools and clubs
and later focusing primarily on professional online coaching for players of various ages and skill levels.
He has held the FIDE Trainer title since 2019.
For ChessBase, Ris produces numerous training courses and contributions on openings, strategy and calculation.
He also presents the show Fast & Furious on the PlayChess server, where he explains sharp opening variations.
