Erwin l'Ami
Erwin l’Ami, born in Woerden in 1985,
is a Dutch chess grandmaster, coach and author.
He earned the grandmaster title in 2005 and reached his peak rating of 2651 in 2014.
In 2015, l’Ami won the Reykjavík Open with 8½ points from ten games, and in 2022 he became Dutch Champion.
He has also represented the Netherlands at several Chess Olympiads.
A renowned opening expert, l’Ami initially worked as a second for Veselin Topalov
and has supported Anish Giri for many years, most recently during Giri’s victory at the 2025 FIDE Grand Swiss.
