Yannick Pelletier
Yannick Pelletier, born in Biel in 1976,
is a Swiss chess grandmaster, commentator and author.
He earned the grandmaster title in 2001 and reached his peak rating of 2624 in 2003.
Pelletier won the Swiss Championship six times
—in 1995, 2000, 2002, 2010, 2014 and 2017—
and has represented his country at numerous Chess Olympiads and European Team Chess Championships since 1996.
In 2015, he defeated Hikaru Nakamura at the European Club Cup and,
one month later, reigning World Champion Magnus Carlsen at the European Team Chess Championship.
From 2013 to 2018, Pelletier served as tournament director of the Biel International Chess Festival.
He also works as an international chess commentator and produces training courses.
Pelletier speaks fluent French, German, English, Spanish and Russian.
