Burkhard Starke

who was born in 1941, has for many years worked as trainer with SC Leipzig-Gohlis. As a player the qualified interpreter and translator (and telecommunications engineer) was twice a member of the winning team in the DDR team championships with SG Leipzig (1970 and 1971). In "100 Jahre Schach" (published as: "Ein langes Schachjahrhundert") we can see especially that Starke is an enthusiastic chess historian, whereas his "Starke Bauernregeln" spring above all from his activity as a trainer. His poetic side can be seen in his book on limericks (Burkhard Heinrich: 202 starke Limericks).
