Georgios Souleidis

Georgios Souleidis, born in Hagen in 1972,
is a German-Greek International Master, journalist, author, coach and chess content creator.
He earned the International Master title in 1999 and has represented the Greek Chess Federation since 2000.
Souleidis reached his peak rating of 2440 in October 2008.
He studied journalism and communication studies at Ruhr University Bochum
and subsequently worked as a chess journalist for many years.
Among other roles, he managed the German Chess Bundesliga website and contributed to ChessBase,
the magazine SCHACH, SPIEGEL ONLINE and the German Press Agency.
Together with Grandmaster Karsten Müller, he published the opening book The Italian with c3 and d3 – Solid and Poisonous.
For ChessBase, he produced the training courses The Open Games and The Norwegian Defence.
Today, Souleidis is best known as “The Big Greek”, working as a YouTuber, streamer, commentator and chess educator.
