Trends in modern openings (2014)

La práctica de torneos moderna ha superado virtualmente a la llamada "teoría de aperturas". Gracias a una gran cantidad de partidas de torneo, algunas aperturas y variantes se desarrollan tan rápidamente que incluso los aficionados ambiciosos tienen dificultades para mantener actualizado su repertorio. Pero los expertos ayudan. El ex campeón mundial FIDE Rustam Kasimzhanov está considerado como uno de los expertos líderes en el campo de la preparación de aperturas. En tres duelos por el título mundial fue ayudante de Viswanathan Anand y lo ayudó a defender el título con éxito. Y con la ayuda de Kasimdzhanov y una excelente preparación en aperturas la selección alemana se convirtió sorprendentemente en campeona europea por equipos en 2011.

En este DVD Kasimdzhanov presenta  aperturas de gran actualidad y muestra el estado actual de su "teoría". Desde la perspectiva de un jugador de primer nivel, explica porque ciertas aperturas se juegan mientras que otras más o menos han desaparecido de la práctica magistral. Garry Kasparov had to grind his teeth in his WCh match in the year 2000, since he was unable to win a single game with White against Vladimir Kramnik’s Berlin Defence. The latter then received the nickname of the Berlin Wall. As a result 3...Nf6 against the Ruy Lopez also became ever more popular amongst other grandmasters and the analytical efforts were stepped up in order to find for White some sort of promising setup against this super-solid defence.
