Sicilian Accelerated Dragon Powerbook 2022

The Sicilian Accelerated Dragon Powerbook was based on an elo average of at least 2400 (games from Mega and Corr Database) and 2300 (computer games). Thus 10,000 games from the Mega and from correspondence chess exceeded the Powerbook's input threshold, in addition to 81,000 games from the engine room of playchess.com. The Accelerated Dragon represents an attempt to avoid the disadvantages of the Dragon Variation. By bringing forward (accelerating!) Black's move ...g6, the dangerous white setup with the long castling (Yugoslavian variation in the kite) is avoided. Moreover, the Accelerated Dragon is quite easy to learn, because some typical manoeuvres appear again and again.

Interesting discoveries can also be made with the Sicilian Accelerated Dragon Powerbook. For example, after the moves 1.e4 c5 2.Sf3 g6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Sxd4 Lg7 5.c4 Sc6 6.Le3 the answer 6...Db6

could prove to be a secret weapon. Actually, White should have no problems with it, the main variations 7.Sb3 Dd8 8.Dd2 d6 9.Sc3 Sf6 and 7.Sb5 Da5+ 8.S1c3 Sf6

show a positive rating for White, according to the engines. But the statistics leave something to be desired, which suggests that the white position is not so easy to play. Moreover, the two variations mentioned can be studied well with the Powerbook, because the underlying game numbers are both in the four-digit range (in contrast, only two digits in Mega Database).
