Colle-Zukertort Powerbook 2019

Colle-Zukertort is the name of a set-up in which White starts with 1.d4 but then does not continue with c4 and does not develop his bishop on c1. Instead, White continues with Nf3, e3, Bd3 and Nbd2. If White now plays c3 we reach the original Colle-set-up, if White plays b3 we reach Zukertort structures. In both variations White does not really strive for an opening advantage and therefore there are only a few games by top players with this set-up. However, one should not underestimate White’s set-up. Colle is like a Semi-Slav with colours reversed and an extra tempo for White. The Powerbook shows a slight plus for White in both systems, in the Colle and in the Zukertort. Some lines are based on hundreds of computer games and can easily be studied in the Powerbook. The almost 58,000 games with a rating-minimum of 2300 are of a much higher level than the Colle-Zukertort games in the Mega Database.
