Qiyu Zhou

Qiyu Zhou, born in Jingzhou, China, in 2000,
is a Canadian chess player also known as Nemo Zhou and by her online handle “akaNemsko”.
She spent part of her childhood in France and Finland and has represented the Canadian Chess Federation since 2011.
In 2010, at the age of ten, she won the Finnish Women’s Championship, and in 2014,
she became World Under-14 Girls’ Champion in Durban.
Two years later, Zhou won the Canadian Women’s Championship and reached her peak rating of 2367.
She earned the FIDE Master title in 2016 and became the first Canadian player to receive the Woman Grandmaster title in 2017.
Zhou has represented Canada at several Women’s Chess Olympiads, beginning with the 2014 event in Tromsø.
She now focuses primarily on her career as a streamer and content creator,
publishing content on chess, gaming and poker under the name “akaNemsko”.
