Adrian Mikhalchishin
Adrian Mikhalchishin, born in Lviv in 1954,
is a Ukrainian-Slovenian chess grandmaster, FIDE Senior Trainer and author.
He earned the grandmaster title in 1978.
From 1980 to 1986, he worked with World Champion Anatoly Karpov
and went on to coach numerous other leading players,
including Maia Chiburdanidze, Susan Polgar, Alexander Beliavsky, Vasyl Ivanchuk and Arkadij Naiditsch.
Mikhalchishin was also a member of the Soviet national team’s coaching staff in 1989 and 1990
and later worked with the national teams of Slovenia and the Netherlands, among others.
He chaired the FIDE Trainers’ Commission for many years
and continues to teach at FIDE trainer seminars and to produce chess books and training courses.
