Previously this move order was almost obligatory and this is how some of the most famous games in the history of chess began, such as the Immortal and the Evergreen games. Nowadays beginners learn first of all to play the open games, and it is only in this group of openings that we can come across Scholar’s Mate (2.Qh5 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.Qxf7 mate). But at the same time 1...e5 is considered to be the most solid continuation of them all and so dominates top level chess.
