The Ruy Lopez Breyer Variation

A la apertura Española a menudo de la llama la reina de las aperturas. Si domina esta apertura, comprende mucho de ajedrez. Uno de los sistemas más populares en la apertura Española es la variante Breyer, en la que las negras retiran su ya desarrollado caballo de c6 a b8 para recolocarlo vía d7 en mejores casillas. El maestro de ajedrez húngaro Gyula Breyer recomendó este movimiento en 1911 pero estaba muy por delante de su tiempo con esta idea. Pasaron décadas antes de que se comprendiese el potencial de este movimiento, pero ahora la variante Breyer, que comienza con 9...Cb8, forma parte del repertorio de muchos jugadores de primera fila, entre ellos los últimos cuatro campeones mundiales Kasparov, Kramnik, Anand y Carlsen. En este DVD, Pavel Eljanov, uno de los más grandes expertos de la variante Breyer, muestra todas las líneas importantes de este sistema. En 14 vídeos, da una visión del estado actual de la teoría. Española

The Spanish Opening is one of the absolutely oldest. It is named after the Spanish priest Ruy López de Segura, who in 1561 presented his analyses on this way of starting the game in a book. But even today the Spanish can be seen in many games of top players and it is quite clearly the most important of the Open Games. Not only does White develop his bishop, he also immediately puts pressure on the black e5-pawn. Whereas previously 3...a6 was almost obligatory, nowadays 3...Nf6 – the Berlin Defence – is favoured.
