Mega-Database is the largest and most renowned game collection in the world, in ChessBase quality standard. ChessBase published its first chess games database in 1986. ChessBase Mega Database is concentrated chess knowledge. It contains everything - the entire history of chess, all major tournaments, all world championships, candidate tournaments and matches, chess Olympiads, national championships, leagues, etc., etc., etc. From 1475 until today.

In the meantime, the historical part, from 1475 to 1939, comprises about 75,000 games, over 6,000 of which are annotated. In the middle of the 19th century chess in Central Europe, especially in Vienna, experienced a rapid rise that was to last for several decades. The great tournaments of that time, with players like Steinitz, Reti, Tartakower, Schlechter, Spielmann and many others, can of course all be found in the Mega Database.

The convenient menu gives you direct access to the most common applications: player preparation, annotated games, tournament search. But you also have direct access without loss of search time to the 1,000 most important tournaments: all World Championships, all Chess Olympiads, all Candidates Tournaments and important historical tournaments, and so on.

Mega offers the encyclopaedia as a download with over 600,000 players’ data and 40,000 player photos. With the regular Mega updates you also get updates for the encyclopedia several times a year, so that it is always up to date on your hard drive.
