Lawrence Trent
Lawrence Trent, born in London in 1986,
is an English International Master, chess commentator and coach.
As a junior, he won several British youth championships and represented England at numerous international youth events,
finishing seventh at the 2003 World Under-18 Championship.
Trent earned the International Master title in 2005.
During his tournament career, he achieved two grandmaster norms and reached his peak rating of 2487 in January 2009.
He studied Spanish and Italian with European Studies at Lancaster University.
Trent became best known as a commentator at major chess events.
Among others, he covered the London Chess Classic, the Candidates Tournament,
the 2013 World Championship match between Viswanathan Anand and Magnus Carlsen,
the 2013 World Cup and the 2014 Chess Olympiad.
From 2015 to 2016, he also served as manager to leading US player Fabiano Caruana.
