Surya Ganguly
Surya Shekhar Ganguly, born in Kolkata in 1983,
is an Indian chess grandmaster and six-time consecutive national champion (2003–2008).
He won the Asian Chess Championship in 2009, while his greatest international tournament successes
also include victories at the 2012 Fujairah International Masters and the 2019 Belt and Road Open.
Ganguly represented India at seven Chess Olympiads
and won individual gold medals at the World Team Chess Championships in 2010 and 2019.
As a second, he assisted Viswanathan Anand during his successful World Championship matches
against Vladimir Kramnik, Veselin Topalov and Boris Gelfand.
