Magic of Chess Tactics - Vol. 1
Magic of Chess Tactics Chess Tactics are the art of combat command. When tactics dominate concrete action is required immediately in order to put a plan into practice or to grab an opportunity. However in complicated positions and with determined resistance basic tactics are often insufficient and intuition, imagination and precision are necessary. The Magic of Chess Tactics DVD helps to develop these qualities and hereto offers a multitude of highly interesting, thoroughly analysed examples as well as detailed explanations and exercises.
Such positions especially are brought into focus which are beyond a quick solution, put concentration and calculating power to the test and sometimes even contain instructive material for quite a lot of training courses.
The Magic of Chess Tactics, which 2002 was originally published as book in the USA has been considerably improved and expanded over the last few years. Now it is presented as training DVD, for the very first time in the popular ChessBase format together with Fritztrainer Videos, where Grandmaster Karsten Müller shows a selection of attractive duels. Beside quite a lot of corrections of the original book – some analysis even had to be turned upside down – so to speak as candy this DVD contains many additional tactical brilliants including a collection of the creative achievements of the five memorable great masters of attack: Tal, Spielmann, Neshmetdinov, Stein and Bronstein. Magic of Chess Tactics is a demanding training DVD aimed primarily at aspiring chess players from club to master level who practically oriented want to study on the basis of thorough and critical explorations of fascinating middle- and endgames, now as before a reliable way to better chess understanding. Video running time: 3 hours 30 min.
Magic of Chess Tactics 2
Similar to the first MOCT-DVD it’ s all about tactical explosive stuff. In lively opening-, middlegame- and endgame discussions Bremen chess trainer and analyst FM Claus Dieter Meyer again has put under the microscope a comprehensive fund of topical and timeless games/fragments, a great deal taken from German Bundesliga praxis, and in doing so has filtered out many motifs/themes and brought attacking techniques and transformations in focus. On the big database enclosed are the complete analysis including about 400 training questions plus a number of photos, partly taken on the spots of the encounters. On video Hamburg grandmaster Dr. Karsten Müller has outlined corner points of Meyer’s work and created 14 tests plus 10 interactive test sets completed with own examples. In this way attacking techniques (for instance with material/positional unbalances) and transformations (especially the right/wrong exchange) may be studied first and for deepening practised directly afterwards on the basis of concrete exercises.

Magical Chess Endgames
The third and final DVD of the two authors is all about Karsten Müller’s special field: the endgame. Claus-Dieter Meyer has put under the microscope many fascinating examples, making some most surprising discoveries. This rich treasure trove forms the basis of Karsten Müller’s video presentation on the DVD: in over 4 hours in front of the camera, the Hamburg grandmaster presents to you sensations from the world of endgames - partly reaching far beyond standard techniques and rules of thumb - and rounds off with some cases of with own examples.
The following themes are featured: mate, stalemate, the sharpest endgame weapon zugzwang, the correct exchange to make and different coloured bishops, as well as rook endgames with sections on umbrella, checking distance and Vancura’s draw (pure form and more complex cases). This is training at its best: you can first study endgame technique on video and afterwards deepen your knowledge by solving concrete interactive exercises! Let the magic work on you!
